Switch between shaping RX audio and TX audio¶
The Equalizer applet maintains separate band settings for the receive and transmit paths. Use the RX and TX selector buttons to choose which path the sliders and ON button act on. The applet remembers which view (RX or TX) you last used and reopens on that view when you restart AetherSDR.
Before you start¶
- AetherSDR must be connected to the radio. The EQ applet requires an active radio connection.
- Open the Equalizer tile by clicking the EQ tray button in the right sidebar applet panel.
Steps¶
- Click the EQ tray button in the right sidebar to open the Equalizer tile if it is not already visible.
- To edit the receive path, click RX. The sliders and ON button now reflect and control the RX equalizer bands.
- To edit the transmit path, click TX. The sliders and ON button now reflect and control the TX equalizer bands.
- The next time you open the Equalizer tile, it will show the same view (RX or TX) you last selected.

Tips¶
- RX and TX are mutually exclusive. Clicking one automatically deselects the other. You cannot edit both paths at the same time.
- The ON button, all sliders, and the reset button always operate on whichever path is currently selected. Switch to RX before resetting or adjusting if you intend to change the receive path.
- When you switch from TX to RX (or back), the sliders immediately update to show the stored values for the newly selected path. Your changes to the previous path are not lost.
- The last-selected view (RX or TX) is saved in your application settings (
EqApplet.showTx). This persists across restarts of AetherSDR. On first launch, the applet defaults to the TX view. - While dragging any band slider, a small popup window appears near the slider handle showing the current signed dB value (for example, "+3 dB" or "-5 dB"). The popup lingers briefly after you release the mouse button.
- You can also adjust sliders using keyboard shortcuts. When you nudge a slider with the keyboard (for example, by pressing the Up or Down arrow key while the slider has focus), the popup value badge appears near the center of the slider handle and lingers with the same timeout as a mouse release. This provides visual feedback for keyboard adjustments without requiring a mouse drag.
- The Equalizer applet supports live theme switching. Slider handles and labels automatically update their colors when you change the active theme. The slider groove does not change color, ensuring the handle remains the only accent-colored element in the band column.
