Read rotating learning notes about solar conditions

The HF Propagation Dashboard includes a panel called "What To Look For" that displays rotating plain-language notes tied to the currently displayed solar image. These notes help you build intuition about what you are seeing in the solar imagery.

Before you start

  • Open the HF Propagation Dashboard via View > Propagation Conditions.

Steps

  1. Open the HF Propagation Dashboard via View > Propagation Conditions.
  2. Locate the "Solar And Lunar panel" in the dialog. It shows the current solar image, labeled "Corona (193Å)" by default.
  3. Read the notes in the "What To Look For" panel below or beside the solar image. The notes rotate automatically; no action is required to advance them.
  4. To see notes for a different solar image type, click the solar image to cycle to the next wavelength. The "What To Look For" notes update to match the newly selected image.

What each control does

Control Behavior
Solar And Lunar panel Displays the live solar image. Click to cycle through available wavelengths (Corona (193Å), Chromosphere (304Å), Quiet Corona (171Å), Flaring (94Å), Visible (HMI)).
What To Look For Rotating plain-language learning notes describing what to observe in the current solar image. Updates automatically as the image cycles.
