Mute all slices at once by double-clicking the mute button¶
Mute or unmute every slice you own in one action, without muting each slice individually.
Before you start¶
- You must have more than one active slice (tabs A through H are visible in the RX Controls applet).
- The mute button is the speaker icon (π / π) in the RX Controls applet.
Steps¶
- In the RX Controls applet, double-click the mute button (π when unmuted, π when muted).
- All slices you own are muted or unmuted together, matching the new state of the button.
What each control does¶
| Control | Label | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Slice tabs (A..H) | A..H | None |
| Slice badge | A | A |
| Tune lock | π / π | π (unlocked) |
| RX antenna | ANT1 | ANT1 |
| TX antenna | ANT1 | ANT1 |
| Filter width | 2.7K | 2.7K |
| QSK | QSK | Off (grey) |
| TX badge | TX | None |
| Mode combo | Sets slice mode; reshapes filter and step presets for the new mode. | RADE option requires HAVE_RADE build flag. DSTR and FreeDV modes are filtered out when the model doesn't support them. Selecting a real radio mode tears down a running WFM software-demod overlay (WFM itself is toggled from the VFO-flag WFM button, not this combo). |
| Frequency label | 0.000.000 | 0.000.000 |
| Frequency edit | Enter MHz and press Enter to tune and recenter; supports kHz/Hz auto-scaling. Escape cancels the entry, restores the previous frequency, and dismisses the editor (v0.9.0, #1954). | XVTR-aware: accepts up to 50,000 MHz when the slice is on an XVTR antenna. 3-digit band convenience: on 2m/70cm (100-999 MHz) a digit insertion formats 1446 as 144.6. |
| STEP | (spinbox) | 100 Hz (index 2) |
| Filter width presets | (buttons) | Per mode |
| Filter passband widget | (drag handles) | None |
| Tone mode (FM) | Off | Off |
| CTCSS tone value | (combo) | None |
| Offset (FM) | 0.0 MHz | 0.0 MHz |
| Offset down | β | None |
| Simplex | Simplex | Checked |
| Offset up | + | None |
| Mute button | π / π | π (unmuted) |
| AF gain | (slider) | 70 |
| L / R pan | (slider) | 50 |
| Squelch level | In Manual mode adjusts the squelch threshold (takes effect only when squelch is on). In AUTO mode sets the dB margin above the measured noise floor where the gate opens, persisted to AutoSqlMarginDb. | In Manual mode the level is radio-authoritative per-slice (not persisted); in Auto mode the margin is persisted. Disabled in RTTY and digital modes and in Off mode. Right-click the AGC threshold slider for AGC-T noise calibration. |
| AGC mode | Med | Med |
| AGC threshold | Sets AGC threshold (or AGC off-level when AGC mode is Off). | Tooltip reflects which value is being adjusted. Right-click opens a 'Calibrate AGC-T against noise floorβ¦' command that starts the AGC-T noise calibration dialog (disabled while a Kiwi replacement receive is active). |
| RIT | RIT | None |
| RIT 0 | RIT 0 | None |
| RIT offset | +0 Hz | +0 Hz |
| XIT | XIT | None |
| XIT 0 | XIT 0 | None |
| XIT offset | +0 Hz | +0 Hz |
| REV / XFC | For FM repeater operation, REV inverts the TX offset sign to work a reversed repeater pair. On backends that support a transmit-frequency check, the button relabels to XFC: pressing it holds the transmit frequency check for the duration of the press, and while held it briefly forces the radio toward the transmit frequency to confirm coverage. | The button toggles REV (checkable) normally, or becomes a momentary XFC down-button when the connected radio backend advertises hasTransmitFrequencyCheck. The held XFC is released on hide, deactivate, capability change, or disconnect. |
| SQL / AUTO | Three-way cycle button: each click steps Off β SQL (manual threshold) β AUTO (algorithm tracks the noise floor) β Off. In AUTO mode the button shows amber 'AUTO'; in manual mode green 'SQL'. Disabled (and auto-turned off) in RTTY and digital modes (DIGU, DIGL) where squelch would notch out FSK characters (#2504). | Manual and Auto both turn the radio squelch on. The auto-squelch algorithm lives in the panadapter; the level is the dB margin above the measured noise floor. Mirrored by an identical button in the VFO panel's Audio tab. |
CTCSS tone values¶
The CTCSS tone value combo box lists 41 standard EIA/TIA-603 tones (67.0 Hz to 254.1 Hz). As of v26.8.4, non-standard tones (69.3, 159.8, 165.5, 171.3, 177.3, 183.5, 189.9, 196.6, 199.5 Hz) are listed without a code or designation, showing only the frequency. Standard tones retain their code and designation labels (for example, 1 XZ 67.0).
Tips¶
- The single-click action is deferred by the platform's double-click discrimination interval (~400 ms) so a double-click cancels the single-click timer and triggers the all-slice action instead.
- Mute state is not saved or restored on reconnect β the radio is the source of truth for audio mute. Similarly, the manual squelch threshold is radio-authoritative and not persisted client-side; the client-side fallback value applies only when no slice is attached.
- The filter width readout is shared with the VFO panel for consistent formatting. The
stepFilterWidth()method walks per-mode preset lists so widen/narrow shortcuts produce mode-correct edge geometry. - Switching to RTTY or digital modes (DIGU, DIGL) automatically disables squelch, which would otherwise notch out FSK characters and break decoding.
- When switching out of RADE mode via the mode combo, the applet emits
radeActivated(false)only if the slice was actually in RADE, preventing stale deactivate signals when changing modes on a non-RADE slice. - The RX antenna menu now includes virtual antenna tokens from a connected KiwiSDR if the KiwiSDR manager is active. Selecting a KiwiSDR virtual antenna emits
kiwiRxAntennaSelected(sliceId, profileId)instead of callingsetRxAntenna()directly.
